Localnotes exists because of the belief that taking good notes is a key to success. Being able to easily capture and refer back to your notes enables you to stay organized, accomplish things more efficiently, and never forget or lose track of anything.
Once upon a time, I took all my work notes using OneNote. But when my employer switched from MS Office to the Google office suite, I lost access to my notes. With some crafty scripting, I was able to recover them, albeit disorganized and without formatting. From that day forward, I vowed never to store my notes in anything except plain text, on my own computer. No vendor lock in for me.
For a while, that sufficed. With separate directories and files for different projects, I was able to keep my plaintext notes in a way I knew I'd never lose them. But capturing them was one thing -- using them was another. What good is taking notes if you cannot easily refer back to them or find what you need?
So I built Localnotes. Now I can search, filter and link my notes, so I have all my information at my fingertips. I use it all day, every day, and it's the reason I'm as effective as I am. And I'm excited to share it with you.
